The Stranglers handwritten poem with autographs 1977
A rare Handwritten poem written by the stranglers Bass Guitar player Jean-Jacques Burnel in blue ballpoint pen The poem reads: “There were once two gentlemen in Verona, Their names were Hugh and Jean, The Girl, she asked them to stone her With something pretty obscene They came in her tent Feelings of passion were vent She needed transfusion blood donor That sweet young baseballer Verona” The poem has been signed by Jean-Jacques Burnel and Hugh Cornwell to the bottom of the page in blue ball point pen The poem and autographs were obtained on the 2nd of April 1977 before their show at the Tow Bar Inn in Nethertown, England The poem comes with a letter from the original owner which reads: I was in the tow bar restaurant; they were in there before they played their gig. I was 16, and my friends asked me to go ask for their autographs. When I got to their table, they asked me to Leave my autograph book with them, asked my name, got it back a short time later and I ended up with the attached poem. I’ve kept it since 1977 The page measures 15 x 10 cm The condition is excellent
