Paul McCartney signed and Inscribed Magazine Cutting 1981

A cut piece of a magazine advertisement for Hoover which has been signed by Paul McCartney in black ballpoint pen.

Paul McCartney’s inscription is a reference to the classic lyrics to the Hoover slogan “To Christine, may you beat as you sweep as you clean”.

Provenance: the autograph was obtained by the vendor and his then-wife at the Atlantic Tower Hotel in Liverpool, circa 1981, after seeing a Wings concert. McCartney was spotted at the hotel, and the only item to hand was a sales catalogue she had picked up earlier whilst shopping. When presented with the catalogue and asked for an autograph, McCartney chose to sign over the Hoover advertisement and added the famous slogan, without prompting.
