Elton John Signed Promotional Photograph

An original promotional photograph of Sir Elton John posing in front of the Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin in Moscow’s Red Square which has been signed and inscribed by Elton John in blue Mont Blanc Ink.

Elton has added the inscription “To Gerald Best Wishes” before his name.

The photo was taken in May 1979 during Elton John's groundbreaking, eight-concert world tour milestone across Leningrad and Moscow.

This item originates from the lifelong collection of Gerald Bastable, who spent more than fifty years travelling the world in pursuit of autographs and built one of the most wide-ranging private collections of stage and screen signatures of its era. A familiar figure at the Academy Awards and among the grand London hotels where visiting stars stayed, he sought out the most celebrated names of the day in person and secured their signatures first-hand.

Across those five decades his collection came to encompass an extraordinary roll-call of figures — among them the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Walt Disney and thousands of others spanning music, film and entertainment. Each was captured with the trusted Montblanc pen that remained his constant companion throughout his collecting life.

Every piece carries the same distinction: obtained in person, first-hand, a genuine record of more than half a century at the heart of popular culture.
