This item originates from the lifelong collection of Gerald Bastable, who spent more than fifty years travelling the world in pursuit of autographs and built one of the most wide-ranging private collections of stage and screen signatures of its era. A familiar figure at the Academy Awards and among the grand London hotels where visiting stars stayed, he sought out the most celebrated names of the day in person and secured their signatures first-hand.

Across those five decades, his collection came to encompass an extraordinary roll-call of figures — among them The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Walt Disney, and thousands of others spanning music, film, and entertainment. Each was captured with the trusted Montblanc pen that remained his constant companion throughout his collecting life.

Every piece carries the same distinction: obtained in person, first-hand — a genuine record of more than half a century at the heart of popular culture.
