The Beatles Bangor Wales snapshot 1967

An original snapshot taken in August 1967, when The Beatles met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in Bangor, North Wales, for Transcendental Meditation. This historic visit marked a major turning point for the band, as they embraced Transcendental Meditation and publicly renounced the use of drugs. The group, along with partners including Cynthia Lennon and Pattie Harrison, and friends such as Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull, travelled to Bangor by train on the 25th of August 1967. The retreat was cut short on the 27th of August 1967 when the band received news that their manager, Brian Epstein, had died of an accidental drug overdose in London.
