Motörhead Signed Debut Album "Motörhead"

A copy of Motörhead's self-titled debut album "Motörhead", signed on the front cover by Lemmy Kilmister and Phil Taylor in black ballpoint pen and "Fast" Eddie Clarke in blue ballpoint pen.

Phil Taylor has signed "Philthy Animal". Eddie has signed "Fast Eddie". The autographs were obtained in Oxford in 1980.

Before this record was made, Motörhead were in a dire position. Their first-ever recordings for United Artists had been shelved, and early line-up changes left them voted the "Best Worst Band in the World" by music critics. By early 1977, the band were completely broke and ready to break up. They planned a final farewell show at London's Marquee Club. Wanting to preserve the performance, Lemmy begged Ted Carroll, the head of Chiswick Records, to fund a mobile recording truck. Carroll couldn't afford the venue's steep recording fee, so he offered a desperate compromise: two days of studio time to cut a final single instead.

Motörhead walked into Escape Studios in Kent and, fuelled by raw adrenaline and zero sleep, banged out 13 complete tracks in just 48 hours. Stunned by the sheer power of the material, Carroll realised a single wasn't enough and agreed to put out their definitive, self-titled full-length debut.

The album measures 31.5 x 31.4 cm.

 The condition of the album is very good –, with some light wear to the edges.
