Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy signed Album 1976
A copy of Elton John’s Ninth Studio album “Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy” which has been signed on the front cover by Elton John and signed inside the gatefold by Davey Johnstone and Ray Cooper in ballpoint pen.
This album was the first album in history to debut at Number 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart.
The album comes with a letter from the original owner which reads:
My friend’s mother worked at the Royal Scot Hotel on Glasgow Road, Edinburgh. When well-known artists or other celebrities were staying at the hotel, she would sometimes let us know.
As young music fans, we would wait outside in the hope of seeing the artists and, if possible, obtaining autographs.
On 21 May 1976, Elton John performed at the Usher Hall on Lothian Road, Edinburgh, as part of his Louder Than Concorde tour. I attended the concert with several friends.
We were subsequently told that Elton John and his band were staying at the Royal Scot Hotel. On the following day, we waited outside the hotel until they left. When they came out, they were very friendly, and Elton John and Ray Cooper signed this copy of Elton John's Greatest Hits for me.
I had kept the album ever since. Although I did not originally wish to sell it, it had been stored in my attic for many years, and I felt it deserved to be enjoyed and appreciated by other fans and collectors.
I confirm that the above is true to the best of my knowledge and recollection.
The album measures 31.6 x 31.6 cm
The condition of the album is very good + with some light wear to the corners
