When well-known artists or other celebrities were staying at the hotel, she would sometimes let us know.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eAs young music fans, we would wait outside in the hope of seeing the artists and, if possible, obtaining autographs.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eOn 21 May 1976, Elton John performed at the Usher Hall on Lothian Road, Edinburgh, as part of his Louder Than Concorde tour. I attended the concert with several friends.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eWe were subsequently told that Elton John and his band were staying at the Royal Scot Hotel. On the following day, we waited outside the hotel until they left. When they came out, they were very friendly, and Elton John and Ray Cooper signed this copy of Elton John's Greatest Hits for me.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eI had kept the album ever since.
